Gallery cotone is located inside kitocafe in Demachiyanagi, and is operated by the Kyoto accessory maker cotone. Markets and exhibitions are held there occasionally, and on this day there just happened to be a market held in collaboration with Kyoto stationery and book maker KAMOMEYA, so I took a look inside.
Cotone makes accessories like pins and brooches using covered buttons. the accessories in the photos are made using kimono fabric. They are very cute and colorful, aren't they?
These are works by KAMOMEYA.These notebooks are made with paper coated in natural pigments called persimmon tannin made with the juice of unripe sour persimmons and konnyaku paste (as the name suggests, it's a paste made from konnyaku). They have a handmade feel and cute patterns.
These are also works offered by KAMOMEYA.These are illustrated cards of cute animals. They are scenes of working at KAMOMEYA.
This room was originally used as the kimono fitting room when the space was used as a hair salon. That's why the space is so small, but you can enjoy the displays while talking with the creators. If you're fortunate enough that the gallery is open when you visit the cafe (kitocafe), by all means, please take a look.
