Guest House Hitsuji-an
|Category||Guesthouse / Machiya Style|
Hitsuji-an is a guesthouse which has just been opened in November 13. The owner of the guesthouse has travelled to 36 countries as a backpacker, and decided he wanted to make the same kind of space as the guesthouse which he utilized in his various destinations, so he moved to Kyoto and renovated a Kyomachi-ya townhouse that is over 80 years old, and opened up Hitsuji-an. The town that I love the most, Kyoto This is a Kyomachi-ya guesthouse in which one can really feel the atmosphere of Kyoto. I came to visit the recently opened Hitsuji-an.
There are two private rooms and mix dormitory(2 person), Female dormitory(6 person). Other than the mix dormitory, there is airconditioning. All private rooms are Japanese-style and have tatami flooring, so you can really sense the Japanese atmosphere. (mix dormitory and Female dormitory have carpet.)
They have only just opened, and the interior is very clean. In particular, the shower room and bathroom have received early evaluations from users as “very clean and pretty”.
This is the common room. In winter, it will be heated with a sunken kotatsu heater. It attracts guests from a variety of countries, and has an enjoyable atmosphere in which one can relax and take it easy, exchange information and get to know each other.
There is a courtyard inside Hitsuji-an, and you can gaze into it from the common room. It will likely look very different depending on the season. This is one of the charms of the guesthouse.
There are also manga comics and information books about Kyoto available.
The pictures that decorate the room are “Shinran”(Japanese Buddhist monk in Kamakura period) , which was drawn by “Inoue Takehiko”, the artist of the manga “SLAM DUNK”.
The kitchen and sink that are set up in the common room It’s great for long-term residents that there’s a kitchen available.
There are flyers for Kyoto tourist sites and events, and cards for neighbouring food and drink places and so on, so please feel free to use these.
The manager, “Nori san”, is very friendly and sincere He will tell you all sorts of recommendations about Kyoto!
