Guesthouse Yululu is a guesthouse that just opened this August, and already it’s worthy of special attention. Only a few minutes’ walk from Karasuma Oike on the subway line. In this area, close to City Hall, you’ll find yourself at once in the heart of Kyoto City and a full-on business. For that reason, although there are ryokans and business hotels in the area, reasonably priced accomodations like guesthouses were few and far between. So, we’re sure backpackers will be thrilled to hear there’s a new game in town. You’d be crazy to not take advantage of this place!
The guesthouse is located one street south of Oike Doori at the intersection of Aneyakouji Doori and Takakura Doori.
The guesthouse is a quaint and cozy refurbished private residence. We felt at home the minute we opened the door!
This is a five-person room on the first floor near the entrance. It’s a great, Japanese-style room facing onto a cute, little courtyard.
(L) A dorm room on the second floor. There are bunk beds on either side of the room.
(R) Inside, it looks like this. There’s even a compartment for your baggage.
With its location in central Kyoto, it’s relatively easy to access any of the city’s many tourist sites from the guesthouse. In the area surrounding Guesthouse Yululu, there is a shopping arcade, and restaurants and bars abound. Also nearby are the popular destinations the Kyoto National Museum and the Manga Museum. It’s a deal we find too good to resist ;)
