Opened in 2004, "Kazariya Ryo" is a showroom featuring mainly younger members of "Chikueido", a metalworking studio that has been at this location for over 200 years. While "Chikueido" produces traditional silver goods such as tea utensils, incense-burning utensils, ornaments, and the like, "Kazariya Ryo" creates products such as "Netsuke"(*1), "Kanzashi"(an ornamental hair-pin), strap, necklace, in contemporary styles with innovative designs that are unconstrained by tradition, even while using traditional silverworking techniques, out of the desire to help people feel closer to silver in their everyday lives. All of the products feature exquisite workmanship, and the designs are adorable too! Pick one up and see for yourself.
