Kissa(Café) Donguri is a coffee shop in the middle of Kyoto's business district, about 2 minutes' walk from Marutamachi Station on the subway. Hidden deep inside a building, with a laid-back bungalow atmosphere, it's a place where you can forget about the hustle and bustle of the outside world, all over a relaxing cup of specialty coffee. Here, you can choose your own beans and enjoy a fragrant cup of coffee, skillfully hand-poured for you by a barista in a suit. Additionally, this café serves a selection of breakfast sets in the morning and dishes like pasta and curry around lunchtime at reasonable prices. That combined with the cakes made in store make Café Donguri one very customer-friendly coffee shop.
Because the entrance is located at the back of the building, you can hardly see it from the street. So keep your eye out for the cute coffee cup-shaped sign sitting out front.
On the day of our visit, we started with a ham, cheese, and egg toasted sandwich off the morning menu. The sandwich comes with salad and coffee for 600 yen.
Ham and egg atop lightly toasted bread, the sandwich is completed by melted cheese. Eat it while it's hot!
At lunchtime, the curry or one of their homemade cakes, along with of course their abundance of coffee, are worth a try. If you're in the area, do stop by!
Don't forget to look for this cute sign :)
