Kokoro no yutori tari
|Category||Cafe / Machiya Style|
"Kokoro no yutori tari" is a shop offering "Asa café" and massages, located nearby HeianJingu shrine. What does "Asa cafe" mean? In this shop's case, it means that the offered services change according to the time: it is a coffee shop in the morning and a massage place in the afternoon. Isn't this interesting? On top of this, since it opens at 7:00a.m. in the morning, it is perfect for when you want to go sightseeing from the early morning. This shop is in a "machiya" or traditional Japanese house, which gives you the feeling that you are in a Japanese regular "home". Here, you can enjoy breakfast in a relaxed and calm atmosphere.
Regardless of it being a coffee shop only in the mornings, this shop has a very varied menu that includes croque monsieur-style toast, cinnamon toast, cafe au lait, spiced tea, homemade ginger ale and lemon soda among others. This day, I ordered their popular morning set. It consists of a toast and a plate of salada, ham and scrambled egg. This is cheap, given that the drink is also included and the total price is just 580yen.
You can choose your drink from the following : blended coffee, Iced Coffee, tea, iced tea, organicorange juice, milk. On this day I chose blended coffee.
This is a simple toast with butter spread on top, but it has a crunchy texture and is spongy inside, which makes it delicious.
At the back, there are the table seats. This is a rather large space for a pleasant stay. The sofas are comfortable and you can relax in them. You can see the inner garden at the other side of the window.
Having breakfast while looking at the beautifully maintained small inner garden… Here you can enjoy such a gracious time in the morning. If you plan on going sightseeing here and there around Kyoto all day, this is the place to make sure you get a relaxed breakfast before heading out.
The shop is located in an alley on the main street.
