Mononoke ichi (monster art flea market)
A somewhat odd flea market held in Kyoto. How is it odd you might say, and it is because of the items carried, as they all relate to "Youkai"(monster). Naturally many "Youkai" authors and groups with "Youkai" related activities from around the country gather in Kyoto, and then sell their original works that focus on "Youkai". Items include accessories, stuffed animals, pottery, bags, postcards from clothing, photo albums, paintings, even sake and juice, and "Youkai" are also here and there ...
From cute things that will make you laugh, to realistic ones that will surprise you, there are many highlights!
"Daishogun" shopping street, located in Ichijo street, Kamigyo-ku Kyoto city is sponsoring the event, known as the "Youkai Street". Daishogunhachi-jinja shrine is where it is held.
(L)These "Youkai" dolls are cute.
(R)The "Poppingtaro" that vomit blood if they get too excited. Actually these frequently appear in Kyoto's flea markets. They are original characters by Kyoto's artist hellchocolate.
"Mononoke ichi" (monster art flea market) is held on an irregular basis. And the location has not yet been specified, but it will likely be held in Daishogunhachi-jinja shrine as it was this time. For more detailed times please check the homepage (Japanese).
