Ramen Kyoto Tengu is a ramen shop with two locations in Kyoto city. On this day We went to the shop in Nishijin area. They feature a unique soup combining slow-cooked pork and chicken broth with Japanese-style soup. It starts with a soy sauce-flavored base with rich, savory pork broth, and they mix in a Japanese-style soup to create a flavor that is light, not heavy. The noodles are somewhat fine, and the soup sticks to them very nicely. The char siu(Chinese-style barbecued pork) toppings are well-cooked and practically melt in your mouth. This ramen is a great pick! Now we’d like to show it to you.
We ordered the standard “Tengu Ramen”
As you can see, the rich soup really sticks to the noodles. But it is surprisingly light. Toppings include char siu, menma(bamboo shoots), nori(dried laver seaweed). The chopped leeks are provided in a metal sieve, so you can add however much you want.
The shop interior is very clean. Women are welcome here too. There is seating at a U-shaped counter in the center and at two tables.
The menu with photos included is also convenient. Be sure to come in for a visit when you’re in the area.
