Rokusonno-jinja shrine is a shrine located in Minami-ku, Kyoto city , where ‘Minamoto Tsunemoto’, a member of the imperial family in the middle of the Heian period (the mid-10th century), is enshrined. The residence of ‘Minamoto Tsunemoto’ used to be located here in those days. In 961, when he knew he was dying,’Minamoto Tsunemoto’expressed his wish to be buried on this site, because he believed he would become a dragon god, and pray for the prosperity of his descendants, after he died. As he requested, he was buried here, and Rokusonno-jinja shrine was created.
