Sanjusangendo temple, officially known as "Renge-o-in" is a Buddhist temple, located in Higashiyama district of Kyoto. as the temple name, "Sanjusangendo", literally means a hall with 33 spaces between columns, there are 33 spaces between the columns. and the temple hall is about 120 metres long. in 1164, the temple was originally built by "Taira-no-Kiyamori", at the request of the emperor Go-Shirakawa. the temple's hall contain 1,001 figures of Kannon, 1,000 standing statues of Kannon and 1 big seated statue(National Treasure), carved in the 12th and 13th centuries. the temple is also known for its archery exhibition contests, "Toshiya", held on the west veranda of the temple.




Approximately 120M in length. This is the world’s longest temple.
