|Category||Donburi / Udon : Soba|
Sizuya is a soba (buckwheat noodle) restaurant deep in the heart of Demachiyanagi’s Masugata Shopping Center. The impressive style of the storefront gives off an air of sophistication, but when you step inside, the atmosphere is decidedly down to earth. Many of the customers here, too, are locals, so combined with the fair prices, this is a place that makes you want to come back again and again. Of course, the menu is dominated by soba. It’s a perfect place for unwinding over a tasty bowl of noodles. Udon (a thicker style of noodles) and donburi (a hearty rice bowl topped with savory meat) are also available, making this place a good option for groups with varied palates as well as soba-lovers.
On the day of our visit, it was really hot outside, so we ordered some goma zarusoba, cold dipping noodles with sesame.
Unlike the usual zarusoba, these noodles come with a thick sesame dipping sauce. The acidity paired with the flavor of the sesame goes well with the cold soba, creating a perfect dish for a hot day. It really is delicious!
After you finish the soba noodles, a soba broth is brought out, which you can pour into your leftover sesame sauce for a savory drink!
The inside of Cricket is laidback and spacious. Here, you can enjoy a great meal and take it easy all at the same time.
