As its name suggests, Komefuku is a restaurant specializing in Tempura. It boasts 40 different types of light and crisp Tempura, fried in rice-bran oil. Their Tempura is made with really fresh ingredients, especially seafood Tempura menu is particularly amazing. The dishes in this restaurant are affordable, tasty, and offer plenty of volume. Here you can eat to your heart’s content, or have a meal as well as a drink. This is a really friendly restaurant. Today we went to try out their special lunch time tempura set meal.
They have different types of lunch menu but today I tried the Komefuku Teishoku(Komefuku set) which is available on Saturdays, Sundays, and national holidays. The menu is a great feast that includes small dishes of prawns, sea eel, vegetables tempura, Sashimi, their specialty potato salad, as well as rice and miso soup.
The amount of Tempura served is amazing! In particular, the Tempura with a whole see eel is superb. It is so big, it won’t even fit in the photo. Freshly fried Tempura is just so tasty. The quantity of food is quite amazing, but the tempura is so crisp and fluffy that it does not feel heavy in your stomach; it feels amazingly light.
The tempura sauce is served from a pot that is placed on the table, and you can add as much grated Japanese radish as you like.
The restaurant is located in a narrow alleyway near the west exit of Daimaru department store in ShijoKarasuma. we would highly recommend this place if you fancy eating Tempura.
